These are practical lessons intended to improve conversational ability, pronunciation, and grammar in daily conversation, and is especially helpful for those who have difficulty in expressing themselves orally in a foreign language.

 

About conversation courses

For each session, participants will receive a controversial article or "hot topic" which can be discussed further with friends or co-workers outside of sessions. Working with current events will also improve knowledge of Norwegian society. The session subjects are provided beforehand so that course participants may also prepare vocabulary before joining the discussion.
 

Course level

This group is on level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
 

Completing the course

Each course is eight weeks long (8 sessions). Sessions are held once a week. Each session consists of 2 lesson hours and the course consists of 16 lesson hours in total. Each lesson hour lasts 45 minutes.

Conversation courses are offered during the following hours:

  • Monday or Wednesday: 12:45 - 14:15, 13:50 - 15:30 or 16:00 - 17:30

  • Friday: 17:30 - 19:00

 

Course materials

Materials are included in the price of the course and are prepared for lessons by the teacher. The subjects discussed in Conversation B1-B2 include

  • Session 1: Pop culture around the world

  • Session 2: Education system in Norway

  • Session 3: Immigration and cultural differences

  • Session 4: Folk stories and fairy tales from Norway and beyond

  • Session 5: Healthcare system in Norway

  • Session 6: Family relationships and mile markers

  • Session 7: Politics and democracy

  • Session 8: Travel
     

Course certificate

At the end of the course, if you completed 80% or more of the sessions and paid the course fee, you will receive an official digital course certificate.

Course price

NOK 2 390,- 

Alfa TIP: Participants can take Grammar I and II after successfully completing this course, or continue with a Norwegian Standard course (B2-1, B2-2, B2-3) or Semester course B2.
