ABOUT ALFASKOLEN AND VISA

The One-Year Norwegian Language and Social Studies Program for 2019/2020 covers a total of 700 lesson hours. The program starts on 02. September 2019 and ends on 17. July 2020.

The course price is NOK 64.750, which includes a non-refundable 10% application fee.

Alfaskolen advices all students requiring any form of Visa to check their Visa possibilities and their recommended application timeline, with the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) BEFORE applying to Alfaskolens courses. It is the student's own responsibility to apply for, track, and follow through with their own visa process. Students should allow themselves several months to apply for and receive an answer regarding their visa.

Once you have checked your possibilities with the UDI, you are ready to begin the application process, please click on the green sign-up button on top of this page. Please fill out the form and send it back to us after you have read the school regulations. The regulations have important information about course registration and cancellation policies. You can find the regulations here.

The period taken to process a visa application is calculated individually and can depend on the country the participant is applying from. Please be informed that in some cases the visa processing might take longer time than expected.
Alfaskolen is familiar with some cases where students from countries like Nepal, India, Philippines and Pakistan have experienced a very long visa processing time, sometimes up to 1 year.

BEFORE applying for the One Year Program, please contact your local Norwegian embassy/consulate or UDI in order to check the visa processing time for your country.

Alfaskolen is not helping with nor giving information about topics as visa to Norway, accommodation in Oslo or working in Norway.

Alfaskolen's role in regard to students that are seeking a visa is as follows:

  • In order to receive an official Letter of Admission from Alfaskolen, participants are required to complete Alfaskolens enrollment process and pay the entire fee of the One-Year Program. This letter can be submitted with the course participant's visa application as proof of registration. The participant himself is responsible for submitting this letter with / in support of their visa application. Alfaskolen does not submit this letter to any agency or embassy on behalf of the course participant.
  • Alfaskolen provides the UDI with a list of all our enrolled students. Only students that have received the official Letter of Admission appears in this list.
  • Alfaskolen provides a student list to UDI of all whom have received the official Letter of Admission
  • Alfaskolen does not track, manage, or otherwise influence the visa process for course participants. UDI is familiar with Alfaskolen as we are approved by Kompetanse Norge (the Norwegian Agency for Lifelong Learning) as a private provider of approved tuition in the Norwegian language and social studies. However, Alfaskolen does not have a special relationship with UDI outside of this approval.

OBS! It is the student's own responsibility to apply for, track, and follow through with their own visa process. Students should allow themselves several months to apply for and receive an answer regarding their visa. Please check with UDI regarding their recommended application timeline.

Dependent/spouse

Many applicants ask us if they can bring their spouses with them to Norway. To read more about family immigration for students, please go to UDIs website.

Visa denial

If the participant's visa application is rejected/denied, Alfaskolen will refund the course fee, after having deducted a 10 % cancellation fee.
If the participant’s visa is denied during the course, we will refund the course fee minus the 10% application fee and the cost of any sessions attended by the student.
You can find detailed information on how the visa process applies to our students in Alfaskolens school regulations.
